ASEAN Financial Inclusion Conference 29-30 October, 2014 Yangon, Myanmar

H.E Neav Chanthana, Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia and H.E Chea Serey, Director General of the National Bank of Cambodia, participated in “ASEAN Financial Inclusion Conference” on 29-30 October, 2014 in Yangon, Myanmar. The ASEAN Financial Inclusion Conference was conceptualized to offer a venue for regional dialogue and exchange of views, thoughts, experiences and best practices among key stakeholders in the region, including ASEAN leaders, policy makers, academeicians, practitioners and relevant development partners. With the development of the banking and financial sector contributing to the economic development in Cambodia, the organizer has invited the representative from the National Bank of Cambodia to share the experience of Cambodia’s financial inclusion progress and the access to finance of women. In the meantime, H.E Neav Chanthana participated in a discussion on the experience of the financial inclusion progress in Cambodia, especially in microfinance sector. After that, H.E Chear Serey, Direrctor General has also been invited to be a moderator in a discussion on “The Role of Finance in Women’s Economic Empowerment”. The discussion focused on the gap between men and women and the challenges for women in access to finance in order to come up with policy suggestion and recommendation to allow women to be more actively participate in socio economic development in ASEAN countries.
